Wednesday, I was able to work on writing with all three fifth grade classes at Bondeni School. It was good to hear that that wanted me to do more with this. I got to spend more time with some classes than with others, but I used the John Collins style of sentence building and started and continued the work with specific words and adverbs, and added adjectives and prepositional phrases. The kids loved showing me their sentences to get positive reinforcement. One class even stayed in during the break time to keep writing. I found a lot of children had forgot to put periods at the end of their sentences, but when I mentioned "periods" they looked at my blankly. I guess they call them "end marks" or something like that.
